University Career Engagement Is Now Career Success

Career Success — formerly known as University Career Engagement — focuses on helping undergraduate, graduate, and professional students connect with the many resources available at The University of Texas at Austin to discover career options, complement academics with experiential learning, develop professional skills, connect with employers for internships and employment, and prepare for advanced-degree programs. Career Success exists to advance equitable access to career education, experiences, opportunities, and success.

Building on the valuable work taking place in each of the college-specific career centers, Career Success aims to enhance existing services and resources and to develop new ways of engaging our career center partners in an effort to provide equity of access to career development resources for all UT students.

The move from University Career Engagement to Career Success signifies unity with other campus entities, including Texas Global and the new Texas One Stop for Enrollment Services, slated to open in Spring 2020. Unifying with the Texas brand is significant and purposeful in that it celebrates Career Success’s mission to serve all UT students regardless of major and professional interests — and to support students from their first step on campus to post-graduation success and continuing with professional upward mobility.

Career Success was created in 2018 with input from the College to Career Task Force and the College to Career Governing Committee under the direction of the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost. Currently housed in the Student Services Building, Career Success plans to open a new space in the Flawn Academic Center in 2020. This center will support a robust university-wide initiative that unlocks the full potential of UT students and propels them on a path to success. The space will position UT as a source of top talent for companies and hiring authorities, ensure equity of employer access and career services to all students, and advance the university’s goal to support upward mobility for the leaders of tomorrow.
